Flip Flops vs Sneakers?

One thing I have noticed lately is my shoe choice. Steven always picks at me because I wear flip flops all the time. I have noticed a direct correlation between the shoes on my feet and my desire to exercise. I would say I wore my flip flops 95% of the time for the past 5 years and I have had little desire to exercise. For the past 4 weeks I've put the tennis shoes on and have been more likely to do some form of exercise. I have caught myself with the flip flops on this week which is made me realize that my shoe choice has an impact on my desire to exercise. Hey, I could be crazy for thinking this but for me I think it is a big factor. I'll be wearing the pumped up kicks a lot more from now on. What does everyone else think?

Update

It has been a busy few weeks and I got a little off course. I had several days where I ate fast food for every meal. Not so good! I have been working out but not as much as I need to be. Going to strive this week to work out a little more and stay away from the fast food.

Cause I had a bad day...

It was one of those days that started off bad and got worse as the day progressed. Eight hours of work felt like 40! I was exhausted. I decided I'd head to the gym and see if that would help. It is amazing how that one hour turned things around. It doesn't change the beginning but I do feel much better tonight.

Almost Lazy Days...

Sunday and Monday have been busy for me and I didn't make it to the gym to work out. Sunday I ate way too much! However, I do feel like I accomplished something today...I cleaned out my garage.  I worked hard out there and made it where I can now put one car in the garage after a yard sale this weekend. We also went swimming which really wasn't a workout but it was something to get me moving.  So now my question is what to do with all the baby stuff out there.  I have all the big stuff I used with Mary Ellen saving it, hoping I'd use it again one day.  It is taking up so much room but the minute I get rid of it then I'll need it.  I'm torn...

Working & A Workout

I get up at 4:30 am (or that is when the 1st alarm goes off). I'm beat when I get home at 8:30 pm. I only do this 2 days a week so I guess these will have to be my off days for a workout. I know I can't get up earlier but maybe I should try 30 minutes after? Any suggestions?

Trying something new...

So I stopped at Sam's Club to pick up some veggies. I saw a large bag of Brussels sprouts. They were about $4 so I thought what the heck, I'll give them a try. Steven researched ways to cook them and we decided to roast them in the oven. We added a little olive oil and the garlic seasoning from the Melting Pot. OMG! They were great! I never thought I'd like them but I did. A healthy, inexpensive, tasty side dish. I'm glad I found something new and tried it.

New iPhone app

I found a new app today thanks to my friend Audra.  Check out Endomondo.  It calculates distance and time.  It also shows the route if you are walking or running.  I'm sure it does more but I'll have to play with it and see. Tonight the Rome girls took a walk on the Rail Trail in Lincolnton.  The app calculated that we walked 2.32 miles tonight.  I'm going to feel this tomorrow!

My pumped up kicks...

I ordered some new shoes too! Fun and funky! Just what I love.

April 3, 2012

Today's steps I headed to the Y after I dropped Mary Ellen off at daycare.  I pused myself and did 35 minutes on the eliptical machine.  According to the machine I went 2.85 miles and burned 396 calories.  I think I'll feel that one tomorrow!  I followed that with a few machines for my arms. Lunch was a wonderful salad with some left over chicken breasts, onions, and red peppers.  So far I've only had about 8 oz. of diet Pepsi.  No headache yet but I have my Tylenol on stand by for when it hits me.  I'm working on getting the water in. Amy, mom, Mary Ellen and I walked around CMC-Lincoln last night.  They have a nice 1 mile trail.  We did one lap but I was about to die!  Pushing 70 extra pounds (Mary Ellen and stroller) up hills is what probably did me in.  It is a very nice trail.  I think we may do it again tonight.

Let the journey begin...

A Princess in the Making... Yesterday I decided to take a step that is long overdue.  I have let my life get out of control.  I have let myself go.  I don't look in the mirror and see that beautiful girl I once was.  I see years of unhealthy eating, little or no exercise, post pregnancy baby weight, years of night shift, low self confidence and much more.  So why "A Princess in the Making?"  Well I hear my daughter tell me every day what princess I should be.  I always tell her she is the princess but I am determined to be that princess too.  How am I going to do this? The first step.....NO MORE NIGHT SHIFT! I have already taken this step.  I contribute a huge amount of my weight gain to this.  I had to eat to stay awake.  I was tired all the time.  I had no energy and no motivation to exercise.  Now, I'm off night shift I have more energy and now realize how tired I really was.  The second step...EXERCIS...
